FX II Cabinets
FXCBM-EX Cabinet
Description
• The FX II main cabinet consists of a circuit-board cage, a power supply, and a backplane.
This is the first generation FX II cabinet, and is equipped for a single cabinet configuration.
It may be used as a main cabinet only.
• The backplane has 8 physical slots:
* 1 dedicated Services slot: For FXSRV-EX or FXSRV2-II / FXCPU-EX or FXCPU-2
* 1 Auxiliary board slot: For FXAUX2-8, FXAUX2-16 boards, or FXINT-MAUXII
* 6 Universal slots: All Universal slots have 32 time slots each, and they can take any
combination of line or station boards
NOTE: The FX II bottom dedicated slot can ONLY be used as an Auxiliary board slot in the MAIN
CABINET.
• As in other FX systems, line and station board numbering starts at the bottom (UNIV slot 1)
and ends at the top (UNIV slot 6).
• Like the FXT and FXS, the FX II uses an automatic configuration system to number line and
station ports.
FXCBX-II Cabinet
• The FXCBX-II cabinet differs from the FXCBM-EX cabinet in a small part called the
FXCNB. This part is built into the new backplane design included in the FXCBX-II and it
allows for expansion connectivity of the common control boards. It also has connectors for
ribbon expansion. This cabinet will replace the first generation FXCBM-EX cabinet.
• Beginning with 17A software the FX II system is expandable to 5 cabinets using a
combination of SCSI and Ribbon cables to connect the expansion cabinets to the main
cabinet. Fiber expansion can be used in place of SCSI if the expansion cabinet must be
located more than six feet from the main cabinet.
• This cabinet can be used for both the main cabinet and expansion cabinets.
