Scout Telephone

NOTE: A product replacement is planned for the Scout telephone.

The Scout is a 900 MHz spread spectrum digital wireless telephone. It essentially operates as a

radio, consisting of a digital station port, a base, and a handset. The base units send and receive

signals that allow users to operate wireless telephone handsets.

Although the quality of the Scout’s signal is superior to that of typical consumer cordless

telephones, it can experience less than optimum coverage because of interference with its signal

at a site.

However, when in-range, Scout sound quality is superior to analog sound quality (most

consumer cordless telephones are analog). An additional advantage is that because the Scout is

digital, a scanner cannot pick up conversations on the Scout telephone system.

The Scout also has a headset that adds functionality and audio clarity to your Scout. The headset

frees both your hands and, in some cases, improves a poor acoustical environment. Working in

conjunction with the headset, the wireless feature of the Scout allows people to move freely

about their workplace.
